Our relationship with Modulr began long before For Different existed. Back in 2015, our founder supported the business through its early startup phase, helping develop the brand and name as part of an intensive sprint designed to bring the proposition to life.Fast forward almost a decade, and Modulr had grown into one of Europe's leading payments infrastructure businesses. With the company entering a new stage of maturity, the challenge was to evolve parts of the brand system to better reflect the scale, sophistication and credibility of the business, while retaining the entrepreneurial spirit that had helped fuel its growth.
We re-engaged with the Modulr team in 2023, supporting the evolution of the brand across digital, motion and visual communications.At the heart of the work was the idea of modularity itself. We developed and expanded a visual language built around blocks, construction systems and custom-built structures, creating a direct metaphor for the flexibility and scalability of the platform. To bring greater personality and accessibility to the category, we created a toolkit of distinctive isometric illustrations that helped visualise complex payments infrastructure in a way that felt engaging, human and recognisably Modulr.The system was designed to work across brand, product and marketing touchpoints, supported by motion principles that added energy and movement throughout the experience.
Today, Modulr supports more than 6,000 businesses, processes hundreds of millions of transactions annually and moves more than £180 billion in payment volume every year. What started as an ambitious fintech startup has become one of Europe's leading payments infrastructure platforms.For us, Modulr is a reminder of the value of long-term relationships. From helping shape the business in its earliest days to supporting its continued evolution years later, we've been fortunate to play a small part in a remarkable growth story. A part we continue to play today.
